What is the relationship between frieze magazine and the frieze d/e?
Both frieze magazine and frieze d/e focus on contemporary art. Launched in 2011, frieze d/e was the first new magazine by Frieze Publishing since the first edition of frieze magazine. Unlike frieze magazine, based in London and written in English, frieze d/e is a fully bilingual German/English magazine with its own editorial team and independent content, based in Berlin.
What is the relationship between frieze magazine and the Frieze Art Fairs?
The fairs and magazines are both wholly owned by Matthew Slotover and Amanda Sharp. frieze magazine was founded, in 1991, by Amanda Sharp and Matthew Slotover with the artist Tom Gidley. When the magazine began they both Matthew and Amanda served as editors, but ceased direct involvement in editorial decisions in 2001.
Amanda and Matthew maintain the overall direction of the art fairs and magazines, but editorial decisions are made by the Co-Editors of frieze Jörg Heiser and Jennifer Higgie. The fairs and frieze magazine share offices in London and administration, communications and accounts personnel.
